Overview

Introduction

A major island (about 80 mi/130 km long and 20 mi/30 km wide) in Makira Province, seldom visited San Cristobal offers beautiful scenery, tribal culture and excellent diving (especially among the southern reefs). Kira Kira is the administrative center of the island, and ships going between Guadalcanal and Santa Cruz Islands dock there. The major airport is Ngora Ngora, 2 mi/3 km west of Kira Kira. 145 mi/235 km southeast of Guadalcanal.
