Temburong District

Temburong District

Overview

Introduction

This area of Brunei is literally surrounded by the Malaysia state of Sarawak—visitors used to need a boat to reach it from the capital, although the opening of a new Temburong Bridge in 2020 changed this.

Exploring Ulu Temburong National Park is one of the great journeys to be made in Brunei. In addition to boating into the park along a pristine river, visitors have the opportunity to visit an Iban longhouse (there are some located outside the town of Bangar) and see the highlights of the untouched rainforest.

Regular boat services operate from the city center to Temburong (Bangar). The journey takes under an hour. The opening of the Temburong Bridge could affect the frequency of boats, and times need to be checked with operators.
