Rockland

Rockland

Overview

Introduction

The working port of Rockland, Maine, is 10 mi/16 km south of Camden. Because so many lobster boats operate from Rockland, it's said to be the world's largest lobster distribution center.

If you're in the mood for a few days on the water, several windjammer schooners are based in Rockland.

Art lovers will want to see the Farnsworth Art Museum, which specializes in artists with a Maine connection (Winslow Homer, Louise Nevelson and Fitz Hugh Lane). The museum's Wyeth Family Center focuses on the works of Andrew, Jamie and N.C. Wyeth. The Farnsworth Homestead next to the museum is an 1850s Greek Revival town house with period furnishings. https://www.farnsworthmuseum.org.
