Woodstock

Woodstock

Overview

Introduction

Woodstock, New York, is famed as the small town that lent its name to the legendary 1969 rock music festival.

The town doesn't disappoint travelers who are looking for remnants of the concert that made it famous, despite the fact it actually took place 50 mi/80 km away in Bethel. There are several hippie-themed shops offering Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix memorabilia, tie-dyed T-shirts, incense and, well, marijuana paraphernalia.

But in catering to the lifestyles of those hippies turned yuppies, shops in Woodstock also offer high-end wine and organic foods, as well as clothing and fine art.
