Druskininkai

Druskininkai

Overview

Introduction

Druskininkai, 70 mi/115 km southwest of Vilnius, is one of the country's most charming towns, and it's tucked away in the middle of a large forest. The road into town, called Ciurlionis Way, is named for Lithuania's most renowned artist and composer, Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis. It's a pretty drive, and the road is lined with sculptures.

Just outside Druskininkai is Grutas Park, home to some less-aesthetic artworks.

Attractions in the town itself include a spa using local mineral waters, Ciurlionis' House (now a museum), a forestry museum and many nature trails that wind through pine forests. While in Druskininkai, visitors should try to attend a performance by a local choir, as the residents are famous for their singing.
