Dusky Sound

Dusky Sound

Overview

Introduction

Dusky Sound is one of the largest and most complex fjords in New Zealand's Fiordland National Park. To the north of the sound's mouth is Resolution Island, the largest uninhabited island in New Zealand, and several large islands are in the sound itself. Dusky Sound is extremely remote, as it is only accessible by sea or air.

During the rainy season, visitors are able to view several imposing waterfalls in the sound, as well as many species of wildlife, such as dolphins, seals and penguins.
