The district of Callao stretches along the coast to the west of Lima and contains Lima's principal airport, Jorge Chavez International Airport, and the city's main port.
The main tourist attractions in Callao are the fortress, Fortaleza Real Felipe, which was built by the Spanish to protect nearby Lima from pirates, and the Naval Museum of Peru.
