Enosburg Falls

Enosburg Falls

Overview

Introduction

Located close to the Canadian border, Enosburg Falls is home to the Enosburg Opera House, dating from 1892. It is still actively used for theatrical performances and concerts, including shows by the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. The town also hosts the annual Vermont Dairy Festival (parades, tractor pulls, midway rides and a bathtub race), held every June.

Outdoor enthusiasts should head north of town to Lake Carmi State Park, with more than 2 mi/3 km of lake frontage on the state's fourth-largest natural lake and ample opportunities for fishing, boating and swimming. Avid skiers and snowboarders should check out Jay Peak, a ski area east of town that is popular with French Canadian visitors. If you can make your way to this area (it's a bit harder to get to than other ski regions in the state), you'll enjoy very short lift lines, deeper snow and spectacular vistas—it's well worth the effort.
