Route 62

Route 62

Overview

Introduction

Route 62's scenic meander between Cape Town and Oudtshoorn, South Africa, is the longest wine route in the Western Cape, passing through some of the top boutique vineyards in the country.

The countryside is breathtaking and ever-changing, from craggy mountain passes to clear streams, from symmetrical vineyards to dusty Karoo scrubland. The massive red cliffs of Meiringspoort and the pure amber waters in the fold of Tradouw Pass should not be missed.

Towns along the way are real jewels, in particular McGregor for its quaint white-washed cottages, Montagu for its hot springs and orchards, Robertson for its orderly church squares, rose gardens and the famous Klipdrift Brandy Distillery, and Prince Albert which is known for olives and art galleries.
