Lago de Yojoa

Lago de Yojoa

Overview

Introduction

Lago de Yojoa, the largest natural lake in Honduras, sits directly along the San Pedro Sula-Tegucigalpa highway, 60 mi/97 km south of San Pedro Sula. The mountain- and forest-fringed Lago de Yojoa is approximately 10 mi/16 km long by 5 mi/8 km wide.

Rustic cabins, hostels, large lake resorts and even a microbrewery sit along the edges of the lake, while the cloud forests of Santa Barbara and Cerro Azul Meambar national parks tower above it.

The iconic Pulhapanazak Falls and the Parque Eco-Archeological de Los Naranjos are both located within a short drive of the lake.
