Overview

Introduction

This small beachfront village 120 mi/200 km west of Accra has emerged as the most important travel hub on the west coast. It hosts a lively beachfront scene that attracts locals and foreigners alike and is serviced by a great selection of hotels and resorts catering to most budgets. Only 45 minutes' walk to the west, the moderately larger village of Dixcove is the site of an interesting castle and busy traditional fishing industry. However, the most popular budget beach resorts in the area can be found at the nearby laid-back villages of Akwidaa and Butre.
