Beyin

Beyin

Overview

Introduction

The most westerly tourist attraction on the Ghanaian coast is this small beachfront village, whose major landmark is the well-preserved Fort Apollonia, built by the British in 1760. From Beyin, a boat trip through lush tropical swamps teeming with birds leads to the inky-black expanse of Lake Amansuri and the fascinating and colorful village of Nzulezo, built on a stilted platform above the lake. Most people visit Nzulezo as a day trip from Beyin, but it is more rewarding to stay the night. Beyin lies about 50 mi/80 km west of Busua.
