You will need a reliable, preferably four-wheel drive vehicle plus a sense of adventure to reach this rustic and isolated craft-producing hamlet 18 mi/29 km north of Cabo San Lucas, known throughout the region for its clay pottery, baskets and cane chairs. La Candelaria lies at the end of a poorly marked dirt road and has a population of less than 150, who seem to barely make a living from handicrafts.
Make sure you have detailed directions, plenty of fuel and a map before you set out. Perhaps a better option is to arrange a guided tour through the Cabo San Lucas tourist office.
