Gokceada

Gokceada

Overview

Introduction

Gokceada (the Windy Isle) is one of Turkey's two Aegean islands, far more rocky and mountainous than Bozcaada, and its attractions are not as immediately obvious.

However, the upscale hotel developments in the hillside villages of Zeytinli and Tepekoy 150 mi/240 km south of Istanbul are clearly aimed at people who want to get away from it all. According to legend, the sea god Poseidon rested his horses in the deep sea nearby. There's an airport near the city center, but many travelers arrive by ferry.
