Trujillo

Trujillo

Overview

Introduction

Honduras' oldest city (founded in 1525), Trujillo is located on the Caribbean coast 150 mi/240 km northeast of Tegucigalpa, on a bluff overlooking one of the most beautiful bays in the Americas, Laguna Guaymoreto.

The city's rich history is visible in its architectural variety—Spanish, French and English colonial structures. The Fort of Santa Barbara, built in the 1600s, is one of the highlights along with a string of lovely beaches and Garifuna communities nearby.
