The busy town on river Telvo with its romantic old arch bridge and the beautiful pilgrimage church of Sant'Anna is the starting point for excursions into the high valley system of the river Telvo between Lake Como and Lake Lugano.
Crisscrossed by walking and mountain biking tracks, the Val d'Intelvi has remarkable baroque churches, notably Santa Maria and Santi Nazzaro e Celso in Scaria. North of San Fedele Intelvi, a side road branches off to Lanzo and the Monte Sighignola. This so-called "Balcony of Italy" offers spectacular views of Lake Lugano and the Swiss Alps, especially after a day of rain has cleared the air. Market day in Argegno is Monday.
Much closer to Argegno, do not miss a trip on the Funivia (http://aapigra.it). This little cable car whisks you (and your mountain bike) up from Argegno to Pigra, affording great views over Lake Como. From there, you can join the trail to Monte Pasquella. From Pigra, you can also walk or bike down to Colonno on the old cobbled Roman Strada Regina. Telvo is located 13 mi/21 km from Como. http://www.comune.argegno.co.it.
