Levera National Park, in an interior section of St. Patrick on the northeastern corner of Grenada, is known for its bird sanctuary, Arawak petroglyphs, a small freshwater lake, boiling hot springs and one of the island's largest mangrove swamps.
There's also a great strip of white-sand beach that is popular with locals and visitors alike—particularly on weekends. Snorkeling and swimming at the beach are excellent, but be careful of strong currents. If you go there between April and June, you'll see leatherback turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. Facilities include picnic shelters, bird-watching lookouts and a visitors center.
Offshore are three islets, Sugar Loaf, Green Island and Sandy Island, that are designated as bird sanctuaries—boats are available (weather permitting) to ferry you to them. http://www.grenada.mot.gd/levera.htm.
