Ouachita National Forest/Ozark National Forest

Ouachita National Forest/Ozark National Forest

Overview

Introduction

This area in northwest Arkansas, along with neighboring Ouachita National Forest, offers some of the best scenery in the mid-South. We really don't think you've seen Arkansas until you've at least driven through this region, preferably on State Road 7 from Hot Springs to Harrison. You'll find the state's tallest mountains, deeply wooded areas and pristine lakes throughout the two preserves. If you have time, we suggest you take one of several hiking trails available in the forests. Tops on our list is the Ozark Highland Trail (in Ozark National Forest), which stretches for 165 mi/265 km. You can also go horseback riding in the forests.
