Overview

Introduction

The main island of Mili atoll is Mili-Mili. During World War II, the local population joined forced laborers from Korea and Okinawa in a revolt against the Japanese. Their revolt was brutally suppressed. War relics exist, but today the island is wonderfully peaceful. Beautiful white-sand beaches surround the lagoon. Local people are eager to meet any traveler. But the only rooms on the island are primitive, with no electricity or indoor plumbing. Across the lagoon, on the island of Wau, are a giant clam farm and accommodations for divers. 85 mi/135 km southeast of Majuro.
