Tumon Bay

Tumon Bay

Overview

Introduction

Tumon Bay is often referred to as Hotel Row—most hotels and several good restaurants and shops are located there (it also has an excellent beach with various watersports facilities available). Be sure to see the San Vitores Shrine (near Guam Reef Hotel), built in memory of Padre San Vitores, the Spanish missionary who introduced Catholicism to Guam and who was executed (so legend says) for baptizing a chief's daughter. Ypao Beach, sandwiched among the hotels, is open to the public. Clustered around the hotels is a growing maze of amusements, from restaurants and clubs to shooting galleries and wild rides. There is a walk-through aquarium, amusement center and waterpark there. Dedicated shoppers will enjoy the rather expensive Tumon Sands Plaza and DFS Galleria. At the northern end of the bay is scenic Two Lovers Point (Puntan dos Amantes), a 410-ft-/125-m-high cliff overlooking the beach and ocean. 8 mi/13 km northeast of Hagatna.
