Fleur-De-Lis Trail

Fleur-De-Lis Trail

Overview

Introduction

Running along the south coast of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, from Port Hastings to St. Peter's, the short Fleur-de-Lis Trail gives you a look at a weather-beaten shoreline, Acadian villages and fishing communities. The entrance into Bras d'Or Lake (a vast saltwater lake at the center of Cape Breton Island) at St. Peter's Canal is stunning. Building the canal proved to be an engineering feat. Constructed over a 15-year period (1854-69), it's now a summertime mecca for leisure boaters.
