Pangkor Islands

Pangkor Islands

Overview

Introduction

Off the western Malaysian coast 80 mi/130 km south of Penang, the Pangkor Islands have beautiful scenery, fine resorts and ample opportunity for relaxation. The more expensive of the two, Pangkor Laut, is favored by opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, a frequent visitor. Spend the mornings snorkeling, the afternoons exploring the island by bicycle, and the end of the day watching the fishing boats come in and enjoying a dinner of delicious seafood. The only drawback to these and other west coast islands is that their waters are generally not as clear as what you will find off the east coast. Pangkor Island is a duty-free port.
