Talava Arches

Overview

Introduction

Located near the Matapa Chasm, the Talava Arches provide some of the island's most memorable sights. The area is riddled with caves and spectacular sea arches. Inside the caves are swirling red and green stalactites and stalagmites and the air is filled with the roar of the nearby ocean. (On our visit there, our guide pointed out some delicious varieties of edible seaweed.) 8 mi/13 km north of Alofi.
