Al Mokha

Overview

Introduction

Once the most important port on the Red Sea, Al Mokha was also the major exporter of coffee in the world. Aden eclipsed it as a port and Brazil surpassed it as a coffee producer, but Al Mokha gave us the name and the rich flavor of mocha coffee. Today, there is little to do there except visit nearby beaches. Plan two hours. 70 mi/110 km by road southwest of Ta'izz.
