Introduction

This village could be considered the nation's doorstep: The funicular linking the capital to the rest of the world originates in Borgo Maggiore. It is also the home of San Marino's Philatelic and Numismatical Museum, which displays coins and stamps dating from 1877. The village hosts an open-air market every Thursday—a tradition dating from the 13th century.
