You'll find the quiet village of Dingli, Malta, and its nearby Verdala Palace about 8 mi/13 km southwest of Valletta. Although the 400-year-old country estate isn't open to the public (it's the summer residence of the president of Malta), the nearby Il-Buskett woodlands offer hikers a chance to walk through Malta's only mature forest.
South of Dingli, along the coast, there are impressive views from Dingli Cliffs, the highest point in Malta. This is also a good area for hikes.
