Tyrol

Tyrol

Overview

Introduction

Tirol, Austria, is a rugged, spectacular province in the western part of the country, 185 mi/300 km west of Vienna.

It offers excellent year-round vacation activities and sights: skiing, camping, lakes, hiking, four-wheel-drive excursions, shopping, Gothic cathedrals and architecture, forests, art-covered buildings, excellent food and castles.

Largely set in the mountains, Tirol is dotted with farms that welcome visitors and where children can play in the countryside, interact with animals and learn to cook. In addition to providing back-to-nature fun for the little ones, farms offer regional organic cuisine using sustainable practices.

Some of Tirol's cities and areas include Kufstein (lakes and a fortress from the Middle Ages), Landeck (historical sites, 16th-century frescoes and kayaking), Mayrhofen, Reutte, Stams, Innsbruck, Lienz and Kitzbuehel. We suggest a minimum four-day visit.
