Escaldes-Engordany

Escaldes-Engordany

Overview

Introduction

Want to combine a shopping spree with a thermal bath? Then go to Les Escaldes. This small town—an eastern extension of Andorra la Vella (1 mi/2 km away)—offers not only a shopping mecca but hot sulphur springs. The Caldea Spa (https://www.caldea.com) is one of Europe's largest aquatic centers, with pools, saunas, whirlpools, restaurants and boutiques, all enclosed in a futuristic structure that resembles a cathedral.

The comun of Escaldes-Engordany has a few antiquities worth searching out: the lovely 12th-century church of Sant Miquel d'Engolasters, an ancient cross and the equally old Bridge of the Escalls. The Escaldes-Engordany Art Centre displays 30 models of Romanesque monuments, and the world of fragrances is highlighted at the Museu del Perfum.
