Hombori

Hombori

Overview

Introduction

The lovely village of Hombori sits surrounded by rocky outcroppings. Notably different from most West African towns because of its stone houses, Hombori is built on the slopes of Hombori Tondo, a 3,800-ft/1,150-m mesa 450 mi/725 km northeast of Bamako.
Hombori's main attraction is La Main de Fatima, an impressive rock formation said to resemble the hand of the prophet's daughter. The town's predilection for rocks continues in the local market, where you can find beautiful stone necklaces and rings used for good-luck charms.
