Tafraoute

Tafraoute

Overview

Introduction

The mountain village of Tafraoute in the Anti Atlas range has a pink casbah—it's built out of beautiful red granite that seems to change color as the day progresses. There's not a lot to do, but it's interesting to see how the townspeople live. Nearby are the mysterious Painted Rocks, a plain of boulders painted red, purple, blue and black by an anonymous French artist. In February, the almond trees blossom. Most people visit Tafraoute as a full-day trip from Taroudant or Agadir. Tafraoute is 50 mi/80 km southeast of Agadir.
