Murrells Inlet

Murrells Inlet

Overview

Introduction

A 25-minute drive south of Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, is a picturesque fishing villageā€”a quiet alternative to Myrtle Beach's hustle and bustle.

Murrells Inlet hosts the Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival, a juried show, every September. It's also the site of Brookgreen Gardens.

Run by the trust of 1900s tycoon Archer Huntington and his wife, sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington, the Brookgreen Gardens feature more than 900 pieces of American sculpture and a nature preserve. Daily programs there include some interaction with wildlife, as well as themed tours. You can ride on a pontoon boat, too. Phone 843-235-6000. http://www.brookgreen.org.
