Introduction

The town of Grand Forks, 75 mi/120 km north of Fargo, is centered around the University of North Dakota, and the academic community fosters a sophisticated culture. The North Dakota Museum of Art, located on campus, is known throughout the region for its contemporary art.

Make a stop at the Myra Museum, which depicts the role pioneers played in settling the area and includes several late-19th-century buildings. There's also an auto-racing track and a water park in town. Grand Forks is also the birthplace of a popular breakfast food: Cream of Wheat was invented there in 1893.
