Dyersville

Dyersville

Overview

Introduction

Baseball lovers and movie buffs will want to visit the famous cornfield just northeast of Dyersville, Iowa. There they'll find the baseball diamond where scenes for the movie Field of Dreams were filmed. The site is open to visitors. You can buy a souvenir, play some ball (bats, gloves and balls are provided), duck in and out of the surrounding cornfield like the "ghost players" in the film, or just sit in the bleachers and dream your own games.

Dyersville is also the "Farm Toy Capital of the World," home to several companies specializing in playthings related to agriculture. Appropriately, the National Farm Toy Museum is there, displaying a collection of more than 30,000 items. The town is located 190 mi/305 km northeast of Des Moines.
