No cars are allowed on Cape Haze, Florida, a 7-mi-/11-km-long barrier island about 60 mi/97 km northwest of Fort Myers. Instead, resort guests are transported from the mainland in shuttles. Crowds are almost unknown there.
Fishing charters are available, or lines can be cast off the northern pass, where redfish and snook lurk. Sea turtles also nest in the area.
