Rincon

Rincon

Overview

Introduction

Surfers set the laid-back mood in Rincon, Puerto Rico, which arguably has the finest beach on the west coast. Beaches on the north side of town are well-known for wave-riding sports, with the most challenging swells found at Tres Palmas. Southside beaches have calm, clear water perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Desecheo Island, about 12 mi/19 km off Rincon's coast, has more than 20 pristine dive sites. Local dive companies offer scuba and snorkeling trips.

Rincon has undergone a gradual transformation as aging surfers have abandoned their boards and taken up ownership of restaurants, bars and watersports emporiums.

Rincon is located about 45 mi/72 km northwest of Ponce.
