Johor Bahru

Johor Bahru

Overview

Introduction

Located in Johor, the closest Malaysian state to Singapore, Johor Bahru (simply referred to as JB by most) is situated at the northern end of the two causeways linking the countries. You can get there by air, bus, outstation taxi or train. It is very popular with some Singaporeans who travel there to do their regular shopping at prices below those in Singapore. While here, these shoppers also enjoy dining on local hawker food dishes, also at much lower prices.

Attractions include the Straits of Johor, a stretch of beach; Muzium Diraja Abu Bakar, a museum on the coast; and Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful in Malaysia. Dating from 1892, it combines Western neoclassical and Islamic architecture to a stunning effect. Alternatively, you can choose to simply shop and enjoy a seafood dinner.
