Mondorf les Bains, Luxembourg, is located 20 mi/32 km southeast of Luxembourg City. The town is home to a famous spring-fed health spa, mineral baths and a casino.
Though the spa building exteriors are concrete and not very pretty, the spa is worth the visit. Make sure you taste the warm, salty waters: As you enter the spa building, a vending machine sells souvenir plastic cups for 1.50 euros. Fill your cup in the fountain across from the information desk. Outside, the cat and mouse fountain by Luxembourg artist Will Lofy represents the children's story Maus Ketti.
Stroll the streets of Mondorf les Bains and have a look at some wonderful art-nouveau houses. The nearby village of Duelem offers a castle and a small Roman fort that was converted into a monastery in the Middle Ages.
