Overview

Introduction

Located along the northeast coast 100 mi/160 km northeast of Seoul, Sokcho is a fishing town that can be used as a base to visit the beaches, waterfalls, temples and beautiful scenery in the vicinity.

The most important attraction in Sokcho is Seoraksan National Park, but other sights include the Naksan Temple (52-ft-/16-m-tall granite Goddess of Mercy), Hwajinpo Beach, Unification Observatory (beautiful mountain vistas and a view of North Korea), the Uisang Pavilion (nice coastal views), the Chonggan Pavilion, Choksan Hot Springs and good skiing.
