Troyes

Troyes

Overview

Introduction

Troyes, France, is a charming city located on the Seine River about 95 mi/150 km southeast of Paris in the Champagne region.

The town is characteristically medieval, with winding streets lined with 16th-century half-timbered houses.

The Musee d'Art Moderne exhibits works by such artists as Degas, Cezanne, Modigliani and Braque. There are another three good museums—the Musee Saint-Loup (a natural history museum), the Musee de Vauluisant (treasures from the Renaissance period in the Champagne region) and the Apothecairie de Hotel Dieu (a beautiful apothecary in its original 18th-century location).

More information regarding all Troyes museums is available at http://www.musees-troyes.com.

There's also luxury outlet shopping in a mall called Marque City, just a short drive from the center, with brands that include Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Hugo Boss, Burberry and other famous French and international brands. It is a relatively easy drive from Paris and attracts shoppers from all over France.
