Pargas

Pargas

Overview

Introduction

The main town of the Turku Archipelago, Pargas (called Parainen by Finns; 90 mi/145 km west of Helsinki) is surrounded by limestone quarries, although these are sufficiently contained not to spoil the general landscape. The islands boast beautiful sea vistas and long bridges. Other attractions include a 14th-century granite church and the Pargas Local History Museum (an open-air museum depicting life as it was several hundred years ago). Plan on at least two nights to enjoy this very peaceful and relaxing area.

We highly recommend the one-hour drive between Pargas and the western town of Nauvo, which contains another great 14th-century church.
