Introduction

Since the early Middle Ages, fishermen and their families have inhabited the windswept island of Fano, Denmark, now a 20-minute ferry trip from the city of Esbjerg. In summer, many Danes and Germans enjoy its perfect broad beaches, dunes and the unique flora and fauna of the area.
