Jinan

Jinan

Overview

Introduction

The city of Jinan, China, has long been renowned for its lakes and springs, including Daming Lake and the First Spring Under Heaven. Cable cars run to the nearby Thousand Buddha Mountain, home to some interesting statues; adrenaline-seekers can take the luge back down.

Other interesting sights for visitors include Qufu, the birthplace of the ancient philosopher Confucius, and Mount Tai, widely regarded as the best of the Five Sacred Mountains of China.

Although it does have some pleasant parks and museums, Shandong's provincial capital is a sprawling city and transit hub that holds little interest for travelers.
