Introduction

This old haunt of the Barbary pirates is now a major petroleum port (pop. 124,000). See the hilltop view from Place 1 Novembre, and visit the archaeological museum and Emile Aubry Museum, where works of that artist, plus contemporary Algerian art, are on display. 115 mi/185 km east of Algiers.
