Tulcea

Tulcea

Overview

Introduction

Tulcea is the main town of the marshy Danube Delta, home to hundreds of species of birds and animals. For the best look at the birds, take a ferry to Crisan and hire a local fisherman to row you through the canals—motors tend to frighten the birds away. Be sure to take insect repellent—the mosquitoes can be fierce. Several museums can also be found there ,including a museum on aquatic life (includes an aquarium), art and ethnographic museums, and a combined history/archaeology museum. 140 mi/225 km northeast of Bucharest.
