We particularly enjoy this village located on a sunny terrace above Triesen. It offers sweeping views across the Rhine Valley to the Mittagsspitze in the Swiss canton of Graubunden and to the mountains of Pizol, Alpstein and Santis. Triesenberg is in the low Alps, close to hiking and skiing, and offers many cultural and athletic activities. The setting is similar to that of the Alpine region of Switzerland but on a smaller, more personal scale. The beautifully renovated St. Joseph church with its onion dome, old Walser houses, geraniums on balconies, the restored Town Hall and cows with bells add to the serene atmosphere.
The Walser Heimatm museum is dedicated to the ethnic group that once settled the region around 1280. The museum features 13th-century historical displays, and there's an exhibition of wood engravings and wood-carvers at work. Alp Masescha has an early-14th-century chapel dedicated to St. Theodul. Many villagers walk from the valley to hear Mass there.
Triesenberg offers a nice place to relax and spend a few days. The Gruschaweg, an hour-long walk, leads from the village center to Vaduz, passing the castle on the way. A walk from the city to Malbun (called the Rizlina) passes meadows. 2 mi/3 km southeast of Vaduz.
