Casino gambling and the big-name entertainment shows that go along with it (both far less extensive than in Las Vegas, which lies 340 mi/545 km southeast) are popular, but there are 15 ski resorts, Lake Tahoe, Carson City and several other diverse options all within an hour's drive of the city.
