Introduction

Surrounded by rice paddies and jute (a plant often used to make burlap) plantations, this city is the capital of a district with many indigenous tribal people. Don't bother spending much time along the outskirts of town; go straight to the sadar, the walled town center, and tour the temple of Shiva, linger at the Bora Bazaar and stroll by some Raj-era buildings. 62 mi/100 km north of Dhaka.
