Although it's an industrial town, Miskolc's streets have their charm, and the city does have some unusual attractions: Avas Hill, which overlooks the city and is filled with numerous wine cellars; interesting 13th-century castle ruins; a wooden church; and museums, including the Otto Herman Museum, which showcases history, mineralogy and artifacts.
Nearby, at the spa of Miskolctapolca, are the famed cave baths where you can bathe underground in a renovated, and attractive, thermal pool setting, or aboveground in pools or medicinal baths. Saunas and other wellness treatments are also available on-site.
