Malbun

Malbun

Overview

Introduction

A small town high in the Alpine (southeastern) part of the country, Malbun is relaxing, scenic and friendly. In winter it's a ski resort; in summer it's a center for hiking on the many mountain trails. The meadows are particularly beautiful in June and July when an impressive variety of flowers are in bloom. Make a stop at the Galina falconry to watch the hawks, buzzards, eagle owls and golden eagles train. Special walks are organized around Galina mid May-mid October.

With about a dozen hotels and six lifts, Malbun is the largest ski area in the country. Take the cable car up the Seiserjoch (a mountain pass) for the view from the restaurant. Plan to stay at least one night. However, if you're not planning to ski, you can take a bus up for the day—it takes about 20 minutes from Vaduz center, and the scenic trip is worth the time. Malbun is 7 mi/11 km southeast of Vaduz.
