Legaspi

Legaspi

Overview

Introduction

The port city of Legaspi, Philippines, is located 200 mi/330 km south of Manila in the Bicol region. The Bicol region is known for its abaca.

Lagaspi (also spelled Lagazpi) is famous for its almost perfectly shaped volcano, Mayon. The volcano is still active and erupting. Mayon's greatest eruption occurred in 1814. Mud and ash blanketed the area and covered the nearby town of Cagsawa up to its church tower—you can still see the spire sticking out of the ground.

A newly developed destination is Camarines Sur that hosts the world-class Camsur Watersports Complex. Within Camarines Sur is a paradise island known as Caramoan Peninsula that has caught the attention of international media.
